Wood Properties:
merbau or kwila, is a very durable and termite-resistant wood, making it a highly valued material for flooring and other uses. The wood can also be used to extract a dye. Merbau can contain a "gold" fleck that runs through the grain, considered to be attractive by some.
Merbau offers a wide range of colour variability from light through to dark browns. Many pieces will have a yellow dust in the pores that show up as an attractive gold "flecking" when finished. It comes with a lifetime structural and an extensive durability. With its easy maintenance, non-allergenic and pre-finished timber.
Merbau is a large tree with an average height of 50’ feet tall. The Merbau trunk can grow up to more than 5’ feet wide. The merbau tree is a native tree to the Eastern South Asia regions like India, Philippines, Indonesia and many Pacific Islands, as well as in Australia too.

Merbau is a very hard, durable and termite-resistant wood, making it a highly valued material for flooring and other uses. Merbau is almost as stable as teak and although comparable to hickory in strength, merbau has a much lower density. The merbau also has an excellent Dimensional Stability to moisture with a score of 4.6 – 47% more stable than the red oak wood. Another interesting thing about merbau wood is that it exhibits golden-yellowish “flecks” on it, something that gives the merbau wood a very beautiful and shiny look. The Solid merbau flooring is so versatile that it goes well with any design and furnishing you have and is also very reasonably priced.
