How to give proper maintenance of engineered wood flooring?

The key to lasting beauty of your wood flooring is give proper maintenance for the life of your floor.

1) Place walkoff mats at all entranceways to keep dirt and moisture from being tracked on your floor. This will capture much of the harmful dirt before it ever reaches the wood floor. Shake out, wash and vacuum mats and rugs frequently.

2) Rotate area rugs and mats occasionally to diminish discoloration from sunlight.

3) To avoid water marks, never let spills of any type remain on the surface of the floor. Wipe up spills immediately with a slightly dampened towel.

4)  Use soft furniture protective pads under all furniture. You can buy the pads in your local supermarket.

5)  Sweep or vaccum your wood floor as often as required to eliminate dust and debris from your floor. This may have to be done on a daily or weekly basis; depending on the amount of traffic in your home.

6)  When moving heavy furniture or appliances put a large heavy blanket underneath them to avoid scratches.

7)  Do not wear high heels with nails on your wood floor. Spiked heels exert approximately 1000 pounds per square inch. Old, unprotected tips will dent the wood floor.

9)  Use a recommended wood flooring cleaner/mop to better eliminate dust and residue.

10) If accidentially sprinkle water on the wood floor, cleansing the water immediately to prevent from sinking into base layers through floor-seams.
8)  If condition allows, try to maintain an average humidity level of 45% in order to minimize the expansion or contraction in your wood floor.
