Many people think that "choosing the right product is everything" for solid wood flooring, but in fact, the quality of the installation process directly determines the service life and use experience of the flooring. According to statistics, more than 70% of the problems such as cracking, warping and abnormal noise of solid wood flooring are caused by irregular installation. Today, we sort out the full process of solid wood flooring installation, from pre-preparation to post-acceptance, highlighting every detail to help you avoid pitfalls.
1. Installation Premise: Do a good job in basic preparation to avoid later hidden dangers. Before installation, the wall, ceiling, waterproof project and hydropower transformation of the room must be completed and accepted, and the door pocket must be installed; the ground must be flat, with an error of ≤5mm within 2 meters, the ground moisture content ≤20%, and the air humidity controlled at 40%-80%. If it does not meet the standard, adjust it through a humidifier or opening windows for ventilation; for families with underfloor heating, debug the underfloor heating in advance to ensure that there is no water leakage in the pipeline, and make pipeline marks to avoid damaging the pipeline during installation.
2. Pre-preparation: Cleanliness, moisture-proof and insect-proof in one step. First, thoroughly clean the ground to ensure that it is clean, dry, free of floating soil and unevenness. The uneven parts need to be chiseled and leveled; check whether the pipelines and valves in the room are leaking to avoid water seepage damaging the flooring later; lay a moisture-proof film on the ground, overlap the joints by 50mm and stick them firmly with tape, and roll up the moisture-proof film by 50mm at the corner to block water vapor penetration; if using wooden keel installation, spread desiccant and insect repellent powder between the keels, and spread more at the corners to prevent the keels from getting damp and insects.
3. Core Installation: Standard operation and detail control. The wooden keel must be leveled during installation to ensure firmness and avoid abnormal noise later; before installing the flooring, unpack the flooring and place it in the installation room for more than 24 hours to let the flooring adapt to the indoor temperature and humidity and reduce later deformation; during installation, select the flooring, eliminate defective products, place them in categories to avoid excessive color difference; reserve expansion gaps between adjacent flooring to give the flooring "breathing space" and prevent moisture expansion and bulging; when fixing the flooring, use an electric drill to drill pilot holes, the length of the flooring nail is 2.5 times the thickness of the flooring, drive it into the wooden keel at an angle of 30°-50°, and the staggered joint connection (staggered joint ≥30cm) is more firm and beautiful; the flooring not installed on the same day should be put back into the packing box to prevent dampness.
4. Post-finishing: The installation of skirting lines and door bars is particular. When installing skirting lines, drive wooden plugs into the wall, fix them with headless nails, drive one every 40cm, and do the same color treatment on the nail holes to reduce construction traces; it is recommended to fix the door bar with glass glue, especially in areas with many pipelines at the door, to avoid loosening; after installation, clean the site, check the flatness of the flooring and the uniformity of the gaps, walk to test whether there is abnormal noise, and use it after acceptance.
Tip: It is recommended to choose the official installation team of the brand and implement "separation of sales and installation" to avoid responsibility shirking. At the same time, keep the installation certificate for later after-sales service.
